Sie ist interdisziplinär und international orientiert, beobachtet kontinuierlich ihre thematischen Felder und verfolgt aktuelle Trends. ZSE ist das sozialwissenschaftliche Forum für die Bereiche Soziologie der Erziehung, Sozialisation und Bildungsforschung, Forschungsmethoden, Cultural Studies, Methodik des kulturanalytischen Blicks, Kindheits- und Jugendforschung und Schulische Sozialisationsforschung. Die ZSE veröffentlicht ausschließlich Originalbeiträge, die von mindestens 2 qualifizierten Peer-Reviewern zur Annahme oder Annahme nach Überarbeitung empfohlen wurden.
