Theory and Society is a forum for the international community of scholars that publishes theoretically-informed analyses of social processes. It opens its pages to authors working at the frontiers of social analysis, regardless of discipline. Its subject matter ranges from prehistory to contemporary affairs, from treatments of single individuals and national societies to world culture, from discussions of theory to methodological critique, from First World to Third World - but always in the effort to bring together theory, criticism and concrete observation.

Berliner Journal für Soziologie (“Berlin Journal of Sociology”), edited by the Institute of Sociology at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena and the Institute of Social Sciences at the Humboldt University Berlin, publishes double-blind peer-reviewed articles on classical and modern theoretical approaches, essays on current problem areas of sociological discourse, and research notes presenting new empirical findings. Focussed issues and review essays reflect innovative developments within the German and international social sciences and inform about the state of research in central areas of sociology. The journal was founded in 1991 on the initiative of the East German Society of Sociology. It views itself as a general sociological journal that publishes contributions from all research and subject areas of sociology. From the very beginning, the programmatic aim has been to provide a forum for the discussion and further development of sociological problems in the light of contemporary theoretical and social developments. Two major topics have been at the journal's core and will continue to shape its contents in the future: Transformation and Culture. The journal deals with the socio-ecological upheaval that modern societies are undergoing. Globalisation, changes in working society and lifestyles, digitalisation, social conflicts up to new wars, new challenges for democracy, populism and nationalism as well as gender relations are important topics of a renewed Great Transformation. Cultural sociology and comparative cultural research deal with developments in these fields in a special way. The BJS therefore continues to devote its attention to such perspectives.

Latino Studies has established itself as the leading, international peer-reviewed journal for advancing interdisciplinary scholarship about the lived experience and struggles of Latinas and Latinos for equality, representation, and social justice. Sustaining the tradition of activist scholarship of the founders of Chicana and Chicano Studies and Puerto Rican Studies, the journal critically engages the study of the local, national, transnational, and hemispheric realities that continue to influence the Latina and Latino presence in the United States. It is committed to developing a new transnational research agenda that bridges the academic and non-academic worlds and fosters mutual learning and collaboration among all the Latino national groups. Latino Studies provides an intellectual forum for innovative explorations and theorization. We welcome submissions of original research articles of up to 8,000 words, from scholars and practitioners in the national and international research communities. In addition to scholarly articles, we also invite other type of submissions. Vivencias or 'reports from the field' are short personal essays between 2000-3000 words that describe and analyze significant local issues, struggles and debates affecting the lives of Latinas/os in different regions of the country. We also welcome interviews with Latinas/os who are contributing in their local communities or nationwide (e.g. authors, artists, community activists, union leaders, etc.). Our aim in publishing the 'reports' is to inform readers about events that are sometimes over-looked by the national and regional media. The Reflexiones Pedagógicas section includes short essays between 2000-3000 words that address issues of pedagogy and curriculum. This section contributes toward the development and institutionalization of our field in the academy. Páginas Recuperadas are short essays between 2000-3000 words that seek to recover archival documents. These essays make visible, historically significant achievements by individuals, and pivotal events in the experience of Latinas/os in the United States. El Foro is an occasional section that provides a space for essays of approximately 6000 words, addressing current events, in an effort to further engage our readers in a dialogue on the pressing issues affecting Latina/o communities today.Book and media reviews are devoted to scholarship/media on the experience of Latinas/os in the United States. Österreichische Zeitschrift für Soziologie (ÖZS) – Austrian Journal of Sociology was founded in 1976 by the Österreichische Gesellschaft für Soziologie (ÖGS) (“Austrian Sociological Association”). The ÖZS is an academic journal aiming at promoting current debates as well as the exchange of new developments and insights in sociological and social-science research. Its contributions cover the entire range of sociological issues and approaches, including interdisciplinary ones. It is managed by an independent editorial team guaranteeing its autonomy with an international Advisory Board. The ÖZS publishes double-blind peer-reviewed original research articles in German and English from all areas of sociology, including theoretical, empirical, and methodological articles. Research notes (short representations of unpublished, completed projects of broad interest), book reviews, and contributions in response to previous publications in the ÖZS complement each of the four annual issues. Every second issue contains publications on a topical focus. In addition, supplements are published on specific topics on the initiative of sociologists who are not necessarily members of the editorial board. The planning and publication of these special issues are carried out in cooperation with the editors, who also check the issue’s compliance with quality standards. The journal’s target audience encompasses sociologists and social scientists in related fields. The editors support early career sociologists through preliminary evaluation of submitted manuscripts.
