Biomaterials is an international journal covering the science and clinical application of biomaterials. A biomaterial is now defined as a substance that has been engineered to take a form which, alone or as part of a complex system, is used to direct, by control of interactions with components of living systems, the course of any therapeutic or diagnostic procedure. It is the aim of the journal to provide a peer-reviewed forum for the publication of original papers and authoritative review and opinion papers dealing with the most important issues facing the use of biomaterials in clinical practice. The scope of the journal covers the wide range of physical, biological and chemical sciences that underpin the design of biomaterials and the clinical disciplines in which they are used. These sciences include polymer synthesis and characterization, drug and gene vector design, the biology of the host response, immunology and toxicology and self assembly at the nanoscale. Clinical applications include the therapies of medical technology and regenerative medicine in all clinical disciplines, and diagnostic systems that reply on innovative contrast and sensing agents. The journal is relevant to areas such as cancer diagnosis and therapy, implantable devices, drug delivery systems, gene vectors, bionanotechnology and tissue engineering.

Clarivate IF

Biomaterials Advances, previously known as Materials Science and Engineering: C-Materials for Biological Applications (P-ISSN: 0928-4931, E-ISSN: 1873-0191). Includes topics at the interface of the biomedical sciences and materials engineering. These topics include: • Bioinspired and biomimetic materials for medical applications • Materials of biological origin for medical applications • Materials for "active" medical applications • Self-assembling and self-healing materials for medical applications • "Smart" (i.e., stimulus-response) materials for medical applications • Ceramic, metallic, polymeric, and composite materials for medical applications • Materials for in vivo sensing • Materials for in vivo imaging • Materials for delivery of pharmacologic agents and vaccines • Novel approaches for characterizing and modeling materials for medical applications Manuscripts on biological topics without a materials science component, or manuscripts on materials science without biological applications, will not be considered for publication in Materials Science and Engineering C. New submissions are first assessed for language, scope and originality (plagiarism check) and can be desk rejected before review if they need English language improvements, are out of scope or present excessive duplication with published sources. Biomaterials Advances sits within Elsevier's biomaterials science portfolio alongside Biomaterials, Materials Today Bio and Biomaterials and Biosystems. As part of the broader Materials Today family, Biomaterials Advances offers authors rigorous peer review, rapid decisions, and high visibility. We look forward to receiving your submissions!

Colloids and Surfaces B-Biointerfaces

Elsevier•ISSN: 0927-7765 / 1873-4367•Netherlands
5.9
Clarivate IF

Colloids and Surfaces B: Biointerfaces is an international journal devoted to fundamental and applied research on colloid and interfacial phenomena in relation to systems of biological origin, having particular relevance to the medical, pharmaceutical, biotechnological, food and cosmetic fields. Submissions that: (1) deal solely with biological phenomena and do not describe the physico-chemical or colloid-chemical background and/or mechanism of the phenomena, and (2) deal solely with colloid/interfacial phenomena and do not have appropriate biological content or relevance, are outside the scope of the journal and will not be considered for publication. The journal publishes regular research papers, reviews, short communications and invited perspective articles, called BioInterface Perspectives. The BioInterface Perspective provide researchers the opportunity to review their own work, as well as provide insight into the work of others that inspired and influenced the author. Regular articles should have a maximum total length of 6,000 words. In addition, a (combined) maximum of 8 normal-sized figures and/or tables is allowed (so for instance 3 tables and 5 figures). For multiple-panel figures each set of two panels equates to one figure. Short communications should not exceed half of the above. It is required to give on the article cover page a short statistical summary of the article listing the total number of words and tables/figures.

eCM provides an interdisciplinary forum for publication of preclinical research in the musculoskeletal field (Trauma, Maxillofacial (including dental), Spine and Orthopaedics). The clinical relevance of the work must be briefly mentioned within the abstract, and in more detail in the paper. Poor abstracts which do not concisely cover the paper contents will not be sent for review. Incremental steps in research will not be entertained by eCM journal.Cross-disciplinary papers that go across our scope areas are welcomed.

Bioinspiration & Biomimetics

IOP Publishing Ltd.•ISSN: 1748-3182 / 1748-3190•England
3.5
Clarivate IF

Bioinspiration & Biomimetics publishes research involving the study and distillation of principles and functions found in biological systems that have been developed through evolution, and application of this knowledge to produce novel and exciting basic technologies and new approaches to solving scientific problems. It provides a forum for interdisciplinary research which acts as a pipeline, facilitating the two-way flow of ideas and understanding between the extensive bodies of knowledge of the different disciplines. It has two principal aims: to draw on biology to enrich engineering and to draw from engineering to enrich biology. The journal aims to include input from across all intersecting areas of both fields. In biology, this would include work in all fields from physiology to ecology, with either zoological or botanical focus. In engineering, this would include both design and practical application of biomimetic or bioinspired devices and systems. Typical areas of interest include: Systems, designs and structure Communication and navigation Cooperative behaviour Self-organizing biological systems Self-healing and self-assembly Aerial locomotion and aerospace applications of biomimetics Biomorphic surface and subsurface systems Marine dynamics: swimming and underwater dynamics Applications of novel materials Biomechanics; including movement, locomotion, fluidics Cellular behaviour Sensors and senses Biomimetic or bioinformed approaches to geological exploration.
