1.3
Clarivate IF

This journal publishes original research papers on nonlinear hyperbolic problems and related topics, of mathematical and/or physical interest. Specifically, it invites papers on the theory and numerical analysis of hyperbolic conservation laws and of hyperbolic partial differential equations arising in mathematical physics. The Journal welcomes contributions in: Theory of nonlinear hyperbolic systems of conservation laws, addressing the issues of well-posedness and qualitative behavior of solutions, in one or several space dimensions. Hyperbolic differential equations of mathematical physics, such as the Einstein equations of general relativity, Dirac equations, Maxwell equations, relativistic fluid models, etc. Lorentzian geometry, particularly global geometric and causal theoretic aspects of spacetimes satisfying the Einstein equations. Nonlinear hyperbolic systems arising in continuum physics such as: hyperbolic models of fluid dynamics, mixed models of transonic flows, etc. General problems that are dominated (but not exclusively driven) by finite speed phenomena, such as dissipative and dispersive perturbations of hyperbolic systems, and models from statistical mechanics and other probabilistic models relevant to the derivation of fluid dynamical equations. Convergence analysis of numerical methods for hyperbolic equations: finite difference schemes, finite volumes schemes, etc.

Reviews in Mathematical Physics fills the need for a review journal in the field, but also accepts original research papers of high quality. The review papers - introductory and survey papers - are of relevance not only to mathematical physicists, but also to mathematicians and theoretical physicists interested in interdisciplinary topics. Original research papers are not subject to page limitations provided they are of importance to this readership. It is desirable that such papers have an expository part understandable to a wider readership than experts. Papers with the character of a scientific letter are usually not suitable for RMP.

Since 1960, the Journal of Mathematical Physics (JMP) has published some of the best papers from outstanding mathematicians and physicists. JMP was the first journal in the field of mathematical physics and publishes research that connects the application of mathematics to problems in physics, as well as illustrates the development of mathematical methods for such applications and for the formulation of physical theories. The Journal of Mathematical Physics (JMP) features content in all areas of mathematical physics. Specifically, the articles focus on areas of research that illustrate the application of mathematics to problems in physics, the development of mathematical methods for such applications, and for the formulation of physical theories. The mathematics featured in the articles are written so that theoretical physicists can understand them. JMP also publishes review articles on mathematical subjects relevant to physics as well as special issues that combine manuscripts on a topic of current interest to the mathematical physics community. JMP welcomes original research of the highest quality in all active areas of mathematical physics, including the following: Partial Differential Equations Representation Theory and Algebraic Methods Many Body and Condensed Matter Physics Quantum Mechanics - General and Nonrelativistic Quantum Information and Computation Relativistic Quantum Mechanics, Quantum Field Theory, Quantum Gravity, and String Theory General Relativity and Gravitation Dynamical Systems Classical Mechanics and Classical Fields Fluids Statistical Physics Methods of Mathematical Physics.

MPAG is a peer-reviewed journal organized in sections. Each section is editorially independent and provides a high forum for research articles in the respective areas. The entire editorial board commits itself to combine the requirements of an accurate and fast refereeing process. The section on Probability and Statistical Physics focuses on probabilistic models and spatial stochastic processes arising in statistical physics. Examples include: interacting particle systems, non-equilibrium statistical mechanics, integrable probability, random graphs and percolation, critical phenomena and conformal theories. Applications of probability theory and statistical physics to other areas of mathematics, such as analysis (stochastic pde's), random geometry, combinatorial aspects are also addressed. The section on Quantum Theory publishes research papers on developments in geometry, probability and analysis that are relevant to quantum theory. Topics that are covered in this section include: classical and algebraic quantum field theories, deformation and geometric quantisation, index theory, Lie algebras and Hopf algebras, non-commutative geometry, spectral theory for quantum systems, disordered quantum systems (Anderson localization, quantum diffusion), many-body quantum physics with applications to condensed matter theory, partial differential equations emerging from quantum theory, quantum lattice systems, topological phases of matter, equilibrium and non-equilibrium quantum statistical mechanics, multiscale analysis, rigorous renormalisation group.

Reports on Mathematical Physics

Elsevier Ltd•ISSN: 0034-4877•Poland
1
Clarivate IF

Reports on Mathematical Physics publish papers in theoretical physics which present a rigorous mathematical approach to problems of quantum and classical mechanics and field theories, relativity and gravitation, statistical physics, thermodynamics, mathematical foundations of physical theories, etc. Preferred are papers using modern methods of functional analysis, probability theory, differential geometry, algebra and mathematical logic. Papers without direct connection with physics will not be accepted. Manuscripts should be concise, but possibly complete in presentation and discussion, to be comprehensible not only for mathematicians, but also for mathematically oriented theoretical physicists. All papers should describe original work and be written in English.
