Die DZA ist die auflagenstärkste Fachzeitschrift außerhalb Chinas für Akupunktur und Related Techniques (alle Formen der Akupunktur, Moxibustion, Lasertherapie, Neuraltherapie, Reflextherapie, Tuina, Diätetik, Phytotherapie, Homöopathie). Sie ist das Forum für die wissenschaftliche Erforschung und praktische Anwendung dieser Techniken in Klinik und Praxis. Die DZA vertritt die Akupunktur und verwandte Verfahren im Sinne einer integrativen Medizin, d.h. im Rahmen moderner naturwissenschaftlicher Denkmodelle unter Bewahrung des traditionellen Wissensgutes. Im redaktionellen Fokus stehen besonders die wissenschaftliche Förderung und alle Aspekte der heutigen Akupunkturpraxis. Die DZA legt wissenschaftliche Kriterien zugrunde (peer review, Evidence-based Medicine).
