The North-Western Journal of Zoology (North-West.J.Zool.) is the official zoology and animal ecology journal of the Herpetological Club of Oradea (HCO), Romania. It was founded in 2005 by a group of young researchers (PhD and PhD candidates) that recognize the necessity to create a new peer reviewed scientific journal in Romania. They also recognized the need of giving possibility for researchers to publish their research quickly, and in visible way. Since its formation, North-West.J.Zool. make the papers published available online without fee. North-West.J.Zool. is currently published two times every year (in June and December) but the editors are working in the possibility for increasing the number of issues to three per year. This will moreover depend on the number of high quality manuscripts submitted. From 2007 the editors introduced the “online first”, to facilitate a more rapid apparition of the accepted manuscripts.

Pteridines is an open acess international quarterly journal dealing with all aspects of pteridine research. Pteridines are heterocyclic fused ring compounds involved in a wide range of biological functions from the color on butterfly wings to cofactors in enzyme catalysis to essential vitamins. Of the pteridines, 5,6,7,8-tetrahydrobiopterin is the necessary cofactor of several aromatic amino acid monoxygenases, the nitric oxide synthases and glyceryl ether monoxygenase (GEMO). Neopterin plays an essential role in the immune system and is an important biomarker in laboratory medicine for diseases such as HIV, cardiovascular disease, malignant tumors, among others. The journal publishes original research papers, reviews and method papers. While reviews should be designed as comparative surveys, summarizing the current knowledge from an evolutionary perspective, method papers should present new approaches or reviews on methods used in animal morphology. The research papers should be based on morphological investigation of invertebrates and vertebrates at the macroscopic, microscopic and ultrastructural level, including embryological studies.

Anthropological Science (AS) publishes research papers, review articles, brief communications, and material reports in physical anthropology and related disciplines. The scope of AS encompasses all aspects of human and primate evolution and variation. We welcome research papers in molecular and morphological variation and evolution, genetics and population biology, growth and development, biomechanics, anatomy and physiology, ecology and behavioral biology, osteoarcheology and prehistory, and other disciplines relating to the understanding of human evolution and the biology of the human condition.

Biology Bulletin (Izvestiya Rossiiskoi Akademii Nauk – Seriya Biologicheskaya) is an interdisciplinary journal of general biology. It focuses on fundamental studies in the fields of cell biology, biochemistry, zoology, botany, physiology, and ecology. This journal publishes current materials of experimental studies and surveys on current problems in general biology. It also publishes information on scientific conferences and new books in the fields of general biology.

Crustaceana is a leading journal in the world on crustacean research, including the latest papers from all branches of zoology. It provides up-to-date information on aspects such as taxonomy, zoogeography, ecology, physiology, anatomy, genetics, palaeontology, and biometry, and covers all groups of Crustacea. Cybium, the International Journal of Ichthyology, edited by the Société Française d’Ichtyologie, publishes original articles, review articles, summaries of theses, book reviews and information of interest to members of the Society and ichthyologists in general. Subjects covered include ichthyology in general, both basic and applied, and covers freshwater, marine and fossil fishes.

Contributions are accepted on any of the aspects of systematics and taxonomy of insects. This includes: taxonomic revisions, phylogenetics, biogeography and faunistics, and descriptive morphology of insects. Taxonomic papers describing single species are acceptable if such a study is sufficiently justified, however, comprehensive studies that provide a comparative, integrated study of insect systematics and taxonomy will get priority.

The aim of Ichthyological Exploration of Freshwaters is the rapid publication of papers resulting from field work in ichthyology and the documentation of the biodiversity of freshwater fishes: • taxonomic diversity • ecological diversity • ethological diversity • reproductive diversity • zoogeographical diversity The emphasis is on tropical environments and fauna, but papers on subtropical and temperate fishes are also regularly published. The main focus is systematics and biology at the organism-level. Although no single approach is proscribed, the following kinds of articles have been published: • descriptions of new taxa, systematic revisions, and identification keys; • ecology, ethology, and reproductive biology, preferably based on field observation; • zoogeography and exploration reports; • data on status of threathened or endangered species and biota. Four fascicles of 96 pages (17 × 24 cm) are published each year, including many colour illustrations.

The journal Iheringia, Série Zoologia, edited by the “Museu de Ciências Naturais” of the “Fundação Zoobotânica do Rio Grande do Sul”, publishes original research findings in zoology with emphasis on taxonomy, systematics, morphology, natural history, and community or population ecology of species from current Neotropical fauna. Scientific notes will not be accepted for publication. Species lists without a taxonomic approach, or that are not the result of studies on the ecology or natural history of communities will not normally be accepted. The same applies to identification keys of groups of taxa defined by political boundaries. Authors wishing to inquire about the scope of the journal or the suitability of a particular topic are encouraged to contact the Editorial Board prior to submission. Furthermore, articles with a main focus on agronomy, veterinary, zootechny or other areas involving applied zoology will not be accepted. Its abbreviated title is Iheringia, Sér. Zool., which should be used in bibliographies, footnotes and bibliographical references and strips.

Traditional knowledge" is employed to mean knowledge, innovations and practices of indigenous and local communities embodying traditional life-styles; the wisdom developed over many generations of holistic traditional scientific utilization of the lands, natural resources, and environment. It is generally passed down by word of mouth, from generation to generation and is, for the most part, undocumented. Traditional knowledge is valid and necessary, and awaits its currently relevant wider application for human benefit. National Institute of Science Communication and Information Resources, CSIR felt a need to document the recent developments and the information bygone in this area in the form of an interdisciplinary periodical. The Indian Journal of Traditional Knowledge will carry original research papers, review articles, short communications, etc. concerned with the observation and experimental investigation of the biological activities of the materials from plants, animals and minerals, used in the traditional health-care systems such as Ayurveda, Siddha, Yoga, Unani, Naturopathy, Homoeopathy, Folk-remedies, etc. As validation of indigenous claims it will cover Ethno-biology, Ethno-medicine, Ethno-pharmacology, Ethno-pharmacognosy & Clinical Studies on efficacy .

The Journal of Biological Research – Bollettino della Società Italiana di Biologia Sperimentale is one of the oldest journals in Biology. Founded in 1925 the journal is available in Medline until 2001 and Scopus since 2014. The Journal of Biological Research – Bollettino della Società Italiana di Biologia Sperimentale is an online-only peer-reviewed journal which welcomes papers dealing with any aspect of experimental biology. Papers concerning clinical topics can be accepted only if they include experimental laboratory data. Original communications, review articles or short communications may be submitted.

Pacific Science: A Quarterly Devoted to the Biological and Physical Sciences of the Pacific Region The official journal of the Pacific Science Association. Appearing quarterly since 1947, Pacific Science is an international, multidisciplinary journal reporting research on the biological and physical sciences of the Pacific basin. It focuses on biogeography, ecology, evolution, geology and volcanology, oceanography, paleontology, and systematics. In addition to publishing original research, the journal features review articles providing a synthesis of current knowledge.

The Russian Journal of Nematology is an English language journal which publishes original research papers on all aspects of Nematology. The Russian Journal of Nematology is published biannually and each volume normally contains 160 pages. The Russian Journal of Nematology does not impose page charges for publication of scientific papers. Stem Cell Research is dedicated to publishing high-quality manuscripts focusing on the biology and applications of stem cell research. Submissions to Stem Cell Research, may cover all aspects of stem cells, including embryonic stem cells, tissue-specific stem cells, cancer stem cells, developmental studies, stem cell genomes, and translational research. Stem Cell Research publishes 6 issues a year.

There is still a far from complete understanding of the complex ecosystems in the Neotropics, although they have been studied since the first expeditions of the old world naturalists Marcgrave, Humboldt, Spix, Darwin, Bates and Müller. The aims and scope of the Journal are, besides taxonomic and zoogeographic surveys, analyses of animal communities and their relationship with biotic and abiotic environmental conditions. This includes the fauna of both terrestrial and fresh water ecosystems in the Neotropics. Contributions that represent original research and mini-reviews are welcome. Manuscripts presenting just checklists and new geographic records are not considered for publication. If manuscripts do not meet the requirements of the journal, the editors reserve the right to reject manuscripts on submission or to ask for revisions prior to formal peer review.
