African Journal of Marine Science

National Inquiry Services Centre Ltd•ISSN: 1814-232X / 1814-2338•South Africa
1.1
Clarivate IF

The African (formerly South African) Journal of Marine Science provides an international forum for the publication of original scientific contributions or critical reviews, involving oceanic, shelf or estuarine waters, inclusive of oceanography, studies of organisms and their habitats, and aquaculture. Papers on the conservation and management of living resources, relevant social science and governance, or new techniques, are all welcomed, as are those that integrate different disciplines. Priority will be given to rigorous, question-driven research, rather than descriptive research. Contributions from African waters, including the Southern Ocean, are particularly encouraged, although not to the exclusion of those from elsewhere that have relevance to the African context. Submissions may take the form of a paper or a short communication. The journal aims to achieve a balanced representation of subject areas but also publishes proceedings of symposia in dedicated issues, as well as guest-edited suites on thematic topics in regular issues.

Ardeola-International Journal of Ornithology

SEO/ Birdlife•ISSN: 0570-7358 / 2341-0825•Spain
1.1
Clarivate IF

Ardeola: International Journal of Ornithology is the scientific journal of SEO/BirdLife, the Spanish Ornithological Society. The journal had a regional focus when it was first published, in 1954. Since then, and particular during the past two decades, the journal has expanded its thematic and geographical scope. It is now a fully international forum for research on all aspects of ornithology. We thus welcome studies within the fields of basic biology, ecology, behaviour, conservation and biogeography, especially those arising from hypothesis-based research. Although we have a long publication history of Mediterranean and Neotropical studies, we accept papers on investigations worldwide. Each volume of Ardeola has two parts, published annually in January and July. The main body of each issue comprises full-length original articles (Papersand Review articles) and shorter notes on methodology or stimulating findings (Short Communications). The publication language is English, with summaries, figure legends and table captions also in Spanish. Ardeolaalso publishes critical Book Reviewsand PhD-Dissertation Summaries; summarising ornithological theses defended in Spain. Finally there are two Spanish-language sections, Ornithological News; summarising significant recent observations of birds in Spain, and Observations of Rare Birds in Spain, the annual reports of the Spanish Rarities Committee.

Clarivate IF

The Belgian Journal of Zoology is an open access journal publishing high-quality research papers in English that are original, of broad interest and hypothesis-driven. Manuscripts on all aspects of zoology are considered, including anatomy, behaviour, developmental biology, ecology, evolution, genetics, genomics and physiology. Manuscripts on veterinary topics are outside of the journal’s scope. The Belgian Journal of Zoology also welcomes reviews, especially from complex or poorly understood research fields in zoology. The Belgian Journal of Zoology does no longer publish purely taxonomic papers. Surveys and reports on novel or invasive animal species for Belgium are considered only if sufficient new biological or biogeographic information is included.

Ciencias Marinas

Universidad Autonoma de Baja California•ISSN: 0185-3880•Mexico
1.1
Clarivate IF

A bilingual open-access publication, Ciencias Marinas (CM) is an international peer-reviewed journal that contains original research findings in all areas of marine science. It is published quarterly by the Autonomous University of Baja California, Mexico, and all its contents are publicly available on our journal website. Though a limited number of copies are still printed, the journal is mainly distributed in its electronic format. CM was conceived in 1973 as part of an academic project aimed to entice local researchers to publicly disclose their findings by adopting the culture of peer-review publishing. This academic project evolved into an international journal after accepting papers from researchers in the United States and, eventually, other parts of the world. Because of the diversity in authorship, CM issues were initially published in either Spanish or English, and occasionally in both languages. It was not until 1984 when CM included both language versions of all its contents, and it then became the fully bilingual journal it still is today. At CM we believe our inclusive format allows us not only to address a wider range of submissions from international authors but also to make published findings available to a wider international audience. So whether you are looking for information on the redfish in Icelandic waters or the physical and biological properties of the Gulf of California, feel free to peruse CM contents. You may find them to provide source material for your research.

The Editor encourages the submission of short papers containing critical discussion of current issues in all the above areas. Monograph-length manuscripts on topics of major interest, as well as descriptions of new methods are welcome. A Forum, Letters to Editor and Book Reviews are also included. Special Issues are also occasionally published.

Journal of Herpetology

Society for the Study of Amphibians and Reptiles•ISSN: 0022-1511•United States
1.1
Clarivate IF

The Journal of Herpetology accepts manuscripts on all aspects on the biology of amphibians and reptiles including their behavior, conservation, ecology, morphology, physiology, and systematics, as well as herpetological education. We encourage authors to submit manuscripts that are data-driven and rigorous tests of hypotheses, or provide thorough descriptions of novel taxa (living or fossil). Topics may address theoretical issues in a thoughtful, quantitative way. Reviews and policy papers that provide new insight on the herpetological sciences are also welcome, but they must be more than simple literature reviews. These papers must have a central focus that propose a new argument for understanding a concept or a new approach for answering a question or solving a problem. Focus sections that combine papers on related topics are normally determined by the Editors. Publication in the Long-Term Perspectives section is by invitation only. Papers on captive breeding, new techniques or sampling methods, anecdotal or isolated natural history observations, geographic range extensions, and essays should be submitted to our sister journal, Herpetological Review.
