Information Systems and E-Business Management

Springer Nature•ISSN: 1617-9846 / 1617-9854•Germany
4.1
Clarivate IF

Nowadays, in the age of information technology and the internet, the creation and maintenance of business models has to consider the latest developments in information technology to ensure competitiveness and long-term success of the enterprise. The aim of Information Systems Management (ISM) is to integrate information technology into business models and business processes to explore its potential to meet the business goals. Many international journals in the field of information systems (IS) or information management (IM) focus primarily on the quantitative analysis of information systems phenomena, especially through the use of empirical studies. However, research on qualitative analysis, development, and deployment of information systems is not covered sufficiently by the existing international IS journals. Therefore, the journal Information Systems and e-Business Management (ISeB) focuses on the core tasks of Information Systems Management, the conceptual analysis, design, and deployment of information systems, as well as on all e-business related topics. 1. Editorial objective The central aim of the journal ISeB is to publish original, well-written, self-contained contributions that elucidate novel research and innovation in information systems management and e-business which advance the field fundamentally and significantly. Published quarterly, the journal will: - Provide a vibrant forum for both academicians and industry specialists to explore the information systems and e-business management field - Bring innovative research on all aspects of information systems management from analytical, behavioral and technological perspectives - Enable rapid dissemination of latest research and innovation, supported with a double-blind peer review process. 2. Nature of topics The function of information systems management is the use of information technology (IT) to meet the information requirements of a company. Core tasks of ISM are the generation of project ideas (e.g. identification of business opportunities enabled by new information technologies), conceptual analysis, design, and integration of information systems. Submissions to ISeB should have a clear business focus and use appropriate information systems methodologies. They should either be founded on theory or should have proven their value based on prototypes and their beneficial application in the field. The general applicability of the concepts presented is strictly required. Case studies are welcome, if the insights presented allow general applicability. Moreover, empirical studies are welcome if clear research questions with relevance to the field of information systems and e-business management are given and the studies are carried out correctly. ISeB topics focus on (but are not restricted to) the following areas: - Information Modeling: The central task of information systems modeling is the conceptual specification of information systems from the business point of view. Information modeling includes the development or the application of high-level modeling techniques used for conceptual modeling, e.g. event-driven process chain (EPC) for process modeling, entity-relationship model (ERM) for data modeling, and object-oriented methods like the unified modeling language (UML). - Domain-Specific Information Systems: Different industry domains (e.g. manufacturing, retailing, or finance) are characterized by different requirements to information systems that are reflected in different IS architectures for specific domains. The development and maintenance of information systems in an industry domain can be supported by these architectures. Either the development of generalizable domain-specific architectures or the employment of such architectures in practice can be discussed. - E-Business Management (intra-organization al and inter-organizational information systems): Possible sub-topics include the development and deployment of IS for electronic commerce and supply chain management, market places, new business scenarios enabled through new technologies. Based on a business strategy, submissions have to clearly state how the strategy can be operationalized using IS. - Information Systems Development: The development and deployment of large-scale IS (e.g. enterprise resource planning software) requires the use of appropriate software engineering methodologies, procedure models, and project management. Possible research areas are the development of software engineering methodologies, procedure models, and the design of project management methods. Empirical studies on IS development may focus on the application of well-founded methods in practice. - Information Technology Management: The function of information technology management is the provision and operation of the technical infrastructure and the planning of the technical orientation of information systems in an enterprise. An important aspect is the impact of changing information systems on organizational structures and processes – and vice versa. In this context, the use of information technology to realize a business strategy efficiently can be analyzed. - Latest Information Technology Developments: Latest developments in information technology have to be evaluated to explore potentials to generate new business strategies. Current topics and trends to be evaluated for business use are e.g. business intelligence systems, agent technology, and workflow management systems. Officially cited as: Inf Syst E-Bus Manage

Language Policy

Springer Nature•ISSN: 1568-4555 / 1573-1863•Netherlands
3.7
Clarivate IF

Language Policy is highly relevant to scholars, students, specialists and policy-makers working in the fields of applied linguistics, language policy, sociolinguistics, and language teaching and learning. The journal aims to contribute to the field by publishing high-quality studies that build a sound theoretical understanding of the field of language policy and cover a range of cases, situations and regions worldwide. A distinguishing feature of this journal is its focus on various dimensions of language educational policy. Language education policy includes decisions about which languages are to be used as a medium of instruction and/or taught in schools, as well as analysis of these policies within their social, ethnic, religious, political, cultural and economic contexts. The journal aims to continue its tradition of bringing together solid scholarship on language policy and language education policy from around the world but also to expand its direction into new areas. The editors are very interested in papers that explore language policy not only at national levels but also at the institutional levels of schools, workplaces, families, health services, media and other entities. In particular, we welcome theoretical and empirical papers with sound qualitative or quantitative bases that critically explore how language policies are developed at local and regional levels, as well as on how they are enacted, contested and negotiated by the targets of that policy themselves. We seek papers on the above topics as they are researched and informed through interdisciplinary work within related fields such as education, anthropology, politics, linguistics, economics, law, history, ecology, and geography. We particularly are interested in papers from lesser-covered parts of the world of Africa and Asia. Specifically we encourage papers in the following areas: Detailed accounts of promoting and managing language (education) policy (who, what, why, and how) in local, institutional, national and global contexts. Research papers on the development, implementation and effects of language policies, including implications for minority and majority languages, endangered languages, lingua francas and linguistic human rights; Accounts of language policy development and implementation by governments and governmental agencies, non-governmental organizations and business enterprises, with a critical perspective (not only descriptive). Accounts of attempts made by ethnic, religious and minority groups to establish, resist, or modify language policies (language policies 'from below'); Theoretically and empirically informed papers addressing the enactment of language policy in public spaces, cyberspace and the broader language ecology (e.g., linguistic landscapes, sociocultural and ethnographic perspectives on language policy); Review pieces of theory or research that contribute broadly to our understanding of language policy, including of how individual interests and practices interact with policy. We also welcome proposals for special guest-edited thematic issues on any of the topics above, and short commentaries on topical issues in language policy or reactions to papers published in the journal.

Review of International Organizations

Springer Nature•ISSN: 1559-7431 / 1559-744X•Germany
3.7
Clarivate IF

The Review of International Organizations publishes original scientific contributions in the entire field of political economy, with a focus on the policies and structure of international organizations, such as the WTO, World Bank, NATO, WHO, the European Court of Human Rights, and the UN. The journal includes studies based on modern economic, political economic, and international relations theories, using quantitative or qualitative methods. Papers should ideally put forward a new theory and provide a rigorous empirical test of this theory, but the RIO allows for a trade-off between the two. The RIO features a comment section where it invites comments to articles published in the Review of International Organizations and elsewhere. Replication is particularly encouraged. The RIO invites submission of data articles. Compared to regular articles, data articles focus less on theory and should present high-quality, important and relevant data that can be expected to be widely used by the research community. The RIO aims for a quick turnaround. In 2020, the average number of days between the date the manuscript was received and the first decision was 36 days. The RIO checks data and program files of empirical papers prior to publication. Officially cited as: Rev Int Organ

Changes in the hardware, software and telecommunication technologies play a major role in the way our society is evolving. During the last decade, the rate of change in information technology has increased. Indeed it is clear that we are now entering an era where explosive change in telecommunication technology combined with ever increasing computing power will lead to profound changes in information systems that support our organizations. These changes will affect the way our organizations function, will lead to new business opportunities and will create a need for new non-profit organizations. Governments and international organizations do and will have to scramble to create policies and laws for control of public goods and services such as airwaves and public networks. Educational institutions will continue to change the content of educational materials they deliver to include new knowledge and skills. In addition these institutions will change the delivery mechanisms for disseminating these materials. By definition, information technology is very wide. There are a number of journals that address different technologies such as databases, knowledge bases, multimedia, group-ware, telecommunications, etc. This current trend is understandable because these technologies are indeed complex and often have a multitude of technical issues requiring in-depth study. On the other hand, business solutions almost always require integration of a number of these technologies. Therefore it is important to have a journal where the readers will be exposed not only to different technologies but also to their impact on information system design, functionality, operations and management. It should be emphasized that information systems include not only machines but also humans; therefore, the journal will be an outlet for studies dealing with man/machine interface, human factors and organizational issues. Furthermore, managerial issues arising from and dealing with managem ent of information technology and systems including strategic issues are included in the domain of coverage. The topics of coverage will include but will not be limited to the following list: Managing with Information Technology;Management of Information Technology and Systems;Introduction and Diffusion of IT;Strategic Impact of IT;Economics of IS and IT;New Information Technologies and Their Impact on Organizations;Human Factors in Information Systems;Man/Machine Interface, GUI;IS and Organizational Research Issues;Graphical Problem Solving;Multimedia Applications;Knowledge Acquisition and Representation;Knowledge Bases;Data Modeling;Database Management Systems;Data Mining;Model Management Systems;Systems Analysis, Design and Development; Case Technologies;Object Oriented Design Methodologies;System Design Methodologies;System Development Environments;Performance Modeling and Analysis; Software Engineering;Artificial Intelligence Applications to Organizational/Business Problems;Expert Systems;Decision Support Systems;Machine Learning;Neural Network Applications;Meta-Heuristics and Business Problem Solving;Distributed Computer Systems, Legacy Systems, Client - Server Computing;End User Computing;Information Systems for Virtual Organizations;IS and IT for Business Process Re-engineering;IS for Total Quality Control;IS for Supporting Team Work;Negotiation Support Systems;Group Decision Support Systems;EDI;Internet/WWW Applications;Telecommunication Networks;IT and International Information Systems;Security in Networks and Systems;Public Policy Issues dealing with Telecommunica tion;Networks and Airways;IS and IT Training;GIS;IS and IT Applications, e.g., in logistics, marketing, accounting, finance and operations. 3.5
Clarivate IF

The primary concern of Environmental & Resource Economics (ERE) is the application of economic theory and methods to environmental issues and problems that require detailed analysis in order to improve management strategies. The contemporary environmental debate is in a constant state of flux and new or relatively unexplored topics are continually emerging. The Journal provides a forum for the further exploration of the causes, consequences and policy responses linked to these topics, across a range of spatial and temporal scales up to the global dimension. Contributions to the Journal should directly or indirectly be relevant to the policy formulation and application process. Areas of particular interest include: evaluation and development of instruments of environmental policy; cost-benefit and cost effectiveness analysis; sectoral environmental policy impact analysis; modelling and simulation; institutional arrangements; resource pricing and the valuation of environmental goods; environmental quality indicators. The editors wish to encourage a pluralistic approach to both theoretical and applied contributions. The publication of empirically based, policy-oriented research is given a high priority in the Journal in order to further critical discussion. Environmental & Resource Economics will also accept papers with an interdisciplinary approach, where this helps to improve knowledge of the real world complexities present, provided that the analysis retains links to or components of economic thinking. The Journal is required reading for economists, economic geographers and other academics, professionals and officials with a working interest in environmental matters.

Metacognition and Learning

Springer Nature•ISSN: 1556-1623 / 1556-1631•Germany
3.5
Clarivate IF

The journal "Metacognition and Learning" addresses various components of metacognition, such as metacognitive awareness, experiences, knowledge, and executive skills. Both general metacognition as well as domain-specific metacognitions in various task domains (mathematics, physics, reading, writing etc.) are considered. Papers may address fundamental theoretical issues, measurement issues regarding both quantitative and qualitative methods, as well as empirical studies about individual differences in metacognition, relations with other learner characteristics and learning strategies, developmental issues, the training of metacognition components in learning, and the teacher’s role in metacognition training. Studies highlighting the role of metacognition in self- or co-regulated learning as well as its relations with motivation and affect are also welcomed. Submitted papers are judged on theoretical relevance, methodological thoroughness, and appeal to an international audience. The journal aims for a high academic standard with relevance to the field of educational practices. One restriction is that papers should pertain to the role of metacognition in learning situations. Self-regulation in clinical settings, such as coping with phobia or anxiety outside learning situations, is beyond the scope of the journal.

Applied Spatial Analysis and Policy

Springer Nature•ISSN: 1874-463X / 1874-4621•Germany
3.1
Clarivate IF

Description The journal has an applied focus: it actively promotes the importance of geographical research in real world settings It is policy-relevant: it seeks both a readership and contributions from practitioners as well as academics The substantive foundation is spatial analysis: the use of quantitative techniques to identify patterns and processes within geographic environments The combination of these points, which are fully reflected in the naming of the journal, establishes a unique position in the marketplace. RationaleA geographical perspective has always been crucial to the understanding of the social and physical organisation of the world around us. The techniques of spatial analysis provide a powerful means for the assembly and interpretation of evidence, and thus to address critical questions about issues such as crime and deprivation, immigration and demographic restructuring, retailing activity and employment change, resource management and environmental improvement. Many of these issues are equally important to academic research as they are to policy makers and Applied Spatial Analysis and Policy aims to close the gap between these two perspectives by providing a forum for discussion of applied research in a range of different contexts Topical and interdisciplinaryIncreasingly government organisations, administrative agencies and private businesses are requiring research to support their ‘evidence-based’ strategies or policies. Geographical location is critical in much of this work which extends across a wide range of disciplines including demography, actuarial sciences, statistics, public sector planning, business planning, economics, epidemiology, sociology, social policy, health research, environmental management. FocusApplied Spatial Analysis and Policy will draw on applied research from diverse problem domains, such as transport, policing, education, health, environment and leisure, in different international contexts. The journal will therefore provide insights into the variations in phenomena that exist across space, it will provide evidence for comparative policy analysis between domains and between locations, and stimulate ideas about the translation of spatial analysis methods and techniques across varied policy contexts. It is essential to know how to measure, monitor and understand spatial distributions, many of which have implications for those with responsibility to plan and enhance the society and the environment in which we all exist. Readership and Editorial BoardAs a journal focused on applications of methods of spatial analysis, Applied Spatial Analysis and Policy will be of interest to scholars and students in a wide range of academic fields, to practitioners in government and administrative agencies and to consultants in private sector organisations. The Editorial Board reflects the international and multidisciplinary nature of the journal.

Data Science has been established as an important emergent scientific field and paradigm driving research evolution in such disciplines as statistics, computing science and intelligence science, and practical transformation in such domains as science, engineering, the public sector, business, social science, and lifestyle. The field encompasses the larger areas of artificial intelligence, data analytics, machine learning, pattern recognition, natural language understanding, and big data manipulation. It also tackles related new scientific challenges, ranging from data capture, creation, storage, retrieval, sharing, analysis, optimization, and visualization, to integrative analysis across heterogeneous and interdependent complex resources for better decision-making, collaboration, and, ultimately, value creation. The International Journal of Data Science and Analytics (JDSA) brings together thought leaders, researchers, industry practitioners, and potential users of data science and analytics, to develop the field, discuss new trends and opportunities, exchange ideas and practices, and promote transdisciplinary and cross-domain collaborations. The journal is composed of three streams: Regular, to communicate original and reproducible theoretical and experimental findings on data science and analytics; Applications, to report the significant data science applications to real-life situations; and Trends, to report expert opinion and comprehensive surveys and reviews of relevant areas and topics in data science and analytics.Topics of relevance include all aspects of the trends, scientific foundations, techniques, and applications of data science and analytics, with a primary focus on:statistical and mathematical foundations for data science and analytics;understanding and analytics of complex data, human, domain, network, organizational, social, behavior, and system characteristics, complexities and intelligences;creation and extraction, processing, representation and modelling, learning and discovery, fusion and integration, presentation and visualization of complex data, behavior, knowledge and intelligence;data analytics, pattern recognition, knowledge discovery, machine learning, deep analytics and deep learning, and intelligent processing of various data (including transaction, text, image, video, graph and network), behaviors and systems;active, real-time, personalized, actionable and automated analytics, learning, computation, optimization, presentation and recommendation; big data architecture, infrastructure, computing, matching, indexing, query processing, mapping, search, retrieval, interoperability, exchange, and recommendation;in-memory, distributed, parallel, scalable and high-performance computing, analytics and optimization for big data;review, surveys, trends, prospects and opportunities of data science research, innovation and applications;data science applications, intelligent devices and services in scientific, business, governmental, cultural, behavioral, social and economic, health and medical, human, natural and artificial (including online/Web, cloud, IoT, mobile and social media) domains; andethics, quality, privacy, safety and security, trust, and risk of data science and analytics
