Information Systems and E-Business Management

Springer Nature•ISSN: 1617-9846 / 1617-9854•Germany
4.1
Clarivate IF

Nowadays, in the age of information technology and the internet, the creation and maintenance of business models has to consider the latest developments in information technology to ensure competitiveness and long-term success of the enterprise. The aim of Information Systems Management (ISM) is to integrate information technology into business models and business processes to explore its potential to meet the business goals. Many international journals in the field of information systems (IS) or information management (IM) focus primarily on the quantitative analysis of information systems phenomena, especially through the use of empirical studies. However, research on qualitative analysis, development, and deployment of information systems is not covered sufficiently by the existing international IS journals. Therefore, the journal Information Systems and e-Business Management (ISeB) focuses on the core tasks of Information Systems Management, the conceptual analysis, design, and deployment of information systems, as well as on all e-business related topics. 1. Editorial objective The central aim of the journal ISeB is to publish original, well-written, self-contained contributions that elucidate novel research and innovation in information systems management and e-business which advance the field fundamentally and significantly. Published quarterly, the journal will: - Provide a vibrant forum for both academicians and industry specialists to explore the information systems and e-business management field - Bring innovative research on all aspects of information systems management from analytical, behavioral and technological perspectives - Enable rapid dissemination of latest research and innovation, supported with a double-blind peer review process. 2. Nature of topics The function of information systems management is the use of information technology (IT) to meet the information requirements of a company. Core tasks of ISM are the generation of project ideas (e.g. identification of business opportunities enabled by new information technologies), conceptual analysis, design, and integration of information systems. Submissions to ISeB should have a clear business focus and use appropriate information systems methodologies. They should either be founded on theory or should have proven their value based on prototypes and their beneficial application in the field. The general applicability of the concepts presented is strictly required. Case studies are welcome, if the insights presented allow general applicability. Moreover, empirical studies are welcome if clear research questions with relevance to the field of information systems and e-business management are given and the studies are carried out correctly. ISeB topics focus on (but are not restricted to) the following areas: - Information Modeling: The central task of information systems modeling is the conceptual specification of information systems from the business point of view. Information modeling includes the development or the application of high-level modeling techniques used for conceptual modeling, e.g. event-driven process chain (EPC) for process modeling, entity-relationship model (ERM) for data modeling, and object-oriented methods like the unified modeling language (UML). - Domain-Specific Information Systems: Different industry domains (e.g. manufacturing, retailing, or finance) are characterized by different requirements to information systems that are reflected in different IS architectures for specific domains. The development and maintenance of information systems in an industry domain can be supported by these architectures. Either the development of generalizable domain-specific architectures or the employment of such architectures in practice can be discussed. - E-Business Management (intra-organization al and inter-organizational information systems): Possible sub-topics include the development and deployment of IS for electronic commerce and supply chain management, market places, new business scenarios enabled through new technologies. Based on a business strategy, submissions have to clearly state how the strategy can be operationalized using IS. - Information Systems Development: The development and deployment of large-scale IS (e.g. enterprise resource planning software) requires the use of appropriate software engineering methodologies, procedure models, and project management. Possible research areas are the development of software engineering methodologies, procedure models, and the design of project management methods. Empirical studies on IS development may focus on the application of well-founded methods in practice. - Information Technology Management: The function of information technology management is the provision and operation of the technical infrastructure and the planning of the technical orientation of information systems in an enterprise. An important aspect is the impact of changing information systems on organizational structures and processes – and vice versa. In this context, the use of information technology to realize a business strategy efficiently can be analyzed. - Latest Information Technology Developments: Latest developments in information technology have to be evaluated to explore potentials to generate new business strategies. Current topics and trends to be evaluated for business use are e.g. business intelligence systems, agent technology, and workflow management systems. Officially cited as: Inf Syst E-Bus Manage

Environment Systems and Decisions

Springer Nature•ISSN: 2194-5403 / 2194-5411•Updating
3.7
Clarivate IF

Aims and Scope: Emerging challenges to infrastructure systems, industry, government, and society exhibit complexity, interconnectedness, uncertainties, and a variety of stakeholder perspectives. The Springer journal Environment, Systems & Decisions addresses diverse interests and perspectives of infrastructure owners, engineers, environmental professionals, regulators, policy makers, scholars, educators, and managers through technical articles, editorials, and review articles. The journal advances theory, methodology, and applications to address these challenges from a systems view, emphasizing connectedness of humans, machines, and the environment. Methods that arise in the physical, social, and information sciences and engineering are integrated or coordinated. Submitted manuscripts should address interrelated social, technological, environmental, and economic systems with attention to performance, risk, costs, sustainability, and resilience. The ESD journal thus provides a catalyst for research and innovation in cross-disciplinary and transdisciplinary methods, featuring decision analysis, systems engineering, risk assessment and risk management, resilience analysis, policy analysis, data science, and communication. Manuscripts in a variety of application domains (engineering, military, environment, ecology, health, regulation, policy, technologies, logistics, manufacturing, etc.) are invited, particularly to feature problems and solutions that cross domains and envision future systems and processes. Peer Review Policy: Manuscripts are reviewed with due respect for the author's confidentiality. At the same time, reviewers also have rights to confidentiality, which are respected by the editors. Environment Systems and Decisions uses a single-blind peer-review system, where the reviewers are aware of the names and affiliations of the authors, but the reviewer reports provided to authors are anonymous. Single-blind peer review is a traditional model of peer review that many reviewers are comfortable with, and the process supports a dispassionate critique of a manuscript. The editors ensure both the authors and the reviewers that the manuscripts sent for review are privileged communications and are the private property of the author.

European Political Science

Springer Nature•ISSN: 1680-4333 / 1682-0983•United Kingdom
3.6
Clarivate IF

European Political Science (EPS) is an international journal devoted to publishing contributions by and for the political science community. Its interpretation of 'political science' is wide and encompasses comparative politics, political economy, international relations, public administration, political theory, European studies and related disciplines. Although our traditional focus has been on European affairs and the development of the discipline, we are always on the lookout for work that compares politics in Europe with other continents and countries, and more general work (on other regions) that would be of interest to European political scientists (our main readership). As the professional journal of the European Consortium for Political Research, EPS is also a prime outlet for research notes and opinion pieces about the political science profession, including teaching and learning contributions, as well as symposia and academic debates. As a new initiative, we also publish original datasets. The editors of European Political Science (EPS), invite you to submit the following types of articles. Research - articles on conceptual, methodological, and theoretical developments and trends in political science. Articles aimed at this section should be intellectually stimulating, conceptually rigorous, critical and above all agenda-setting. Profession - articles about the state of the discipline, and where it is heading, relations between academia and politicians, policy-makers, journalists and ordinary citizens. Teaching - articles, debates and symposia on new approaches to teaching and learning political science. Debate - a collection of 3 to 4 articles (maximum 20,000 words) that exposes two countervailing perspectives on important current affairs or professional matters in order to generate awareness and reactions from the political science community. Symposium - a collection of 4 to 5 articles (maximum length 25,000 words) on a specific topic and under the coordination of one or two guest editors. The articles must cover either research matters (including the discipline, methodological and conceptual developments, as well as research findings in the classical sense that may contribute to an advancement of the discipline). Symposia can also tackle professional matters (such as career structures and prospects, external evaluation, higher education reforms, accreditation issues, funding trends). Datasets - original dataset accompanied by a short explanatory note explaining the dataset, its novelty, the variables included and the data sources. The descriptive piece will be under copyright, but not the dataset. This format allows authors to get their dataset published and cited, but also allows them and others them and others to use the data for research articles.

Information Technology & Management

Springer Nature•ISSN: 1385-951X / 1573-7667•Netherlands

Clarivate IF

Changes in the hardware, software and telecommunication technologies play a major role in the way our society is evolving. During the last decade, the rate of change in information technology has increased. Indeed it is clear that we are now entering an era where explosive change in telecommunication technology combined with ever increasing computing power will lead to profound changes in information systems that support our organizations. These changes will affect the way our organizations function, will lead to new business opportunities and will create a need for new non-profit organizations. Governments and international organizations do and will have to scramble to create policies and laws for control of public goods and services such as airwaves and public networks. Educational institutions will continue to change the content of educational materials they deliver to include new knowledge and skills. In addition these institutions will change the delivery mechanisms for disseminating these materials. By definition, information technology is very wide. There are a number of journals that address different technologies such as databases, knowledge bases, multimedia, group-ware, telecommunications, etc. This current trend is understandable because these technologies are indeed complex and often have a multitude of technical issues requiring in-depth study. On the other hand, business solutions almost always require integration of a number of these technologies. Therefore it is important to have a journal where the readers will be exposed not only to different technologies but also to their impact on information system design, functionality, operations and management. It should be emphasized that information systems include not only machines but also humans; therefore, the journal will be an outlet for studies dealing with man/machine interface, human factors and organizational issues. Furthermore, managerial issues arising from and dealing with managem ent of information technology and systems including strategic issues are included in the domain of coverage. The topics of coverage will include but will not be limited to the following list: Managing with Information Technology;Management of Information Technology and Systems;Introduction and Diffusion of IT;Strategic Impact of IT;Economics of IS and IT;New Information Technologies and Their Impact on Organizations;Human Factors in Information Systems;Man/Machine Interface, GUI;IS and Organizational Research Issues;Graphical Problem Solving;Multimedia Applications;Knowledge Acquisition and Representation;Knowledge Bases;Data Modeling;Database Management Systems;Data Mining;Model Management Systems;Systems Analysis, Design and Development; Case Technologies;Object Oriented Design Methodologies;System Design Methodologies;System Development Environments;Performance Modeling and Analysis; Software Engineering;Artificial Intelligence Applications to Organizational/Business Problems;Expert Systems;Decision Support Systems;Machine Learning;Neural Network Applications;Meta-Heuristics and Business Problem Solving;Distributed Computer Systems, Legacy Systems, Client - Server Computing;End User Computing;Information Systems for Virtual Organizations;IS and IT for Business Process Re-engineering;IS for Total Quality Control;IS for Supporting Team Work;Negotiation Support Systems;Group Decision Support Systems;EDI;Internet/WWW Applications;Telecommunication Networks;IT and International Information Systems;Security in Networks and Systems;Public Policy Issues dealing with Telecommunica tion;Networks and Airways;IS and IT Training;GIS;IS and IT Applications, e.g., in logistics, marketing, accounting, finance and operations. Clarivate IF

The primary concern of Environmental & Resource Economics (ERE) is the application of economic theory and methods to environmental issues and problems that require detailed analysis in order to improve management strategies. The contemporary environmental debate is in a constant state of flux and new or relatively unexplored topics are continually emerging. The Journal provides a forum for the further exploration of the causes, consequences and policy responses linked to these topics, across a range of spatial and temporal scales up to the global dimension. Contributions to the Journal should directly or indirectly be relevant to the policy formulation and application process. Areas of particular interest include: evaluation and development of instruments of environmental policy; cost-benefit and cost effectiveness analysis; sectoral environmental policy impact analysis; modelling and simulation; institutional arrangements; resource pricing and the valuation of environmental goods; environmental quality indicators. The editors wish to encourage a pluralistic approach to both theoretical and applied contributions. The publication of empirically based, policy-oriented research is given a high priority in the Journal in order to further critical discussion. Environmental & Resource Economics will also accept papers with an interdisciplinary approach, where this helps to improve knowledge of the real world complexities present, provided that the analysis retains links to or components of economic thinking. The Journal is required reading for economists, economic geographers and other academics, professionals and officials with a working interest in environmental matters.

International Environmental Agreements: Politics, Law and Economics is a peer-reviewed, multi-disciplinary journal that focuses on the theoretical, methodological and practical dimensions of achieving cooperative solutions to international environmental problems. The journal, which is published four times each year, emphasizes both formal legal agreements (such as multilateral treaties) and less formal cooperative mechanisms (such as ministerial declarations and producer-consumer agreements). The journal's scope encompasses the full range of environmental and natural resource issues, including (but not limited to) biosafety, biodiversity loss, climate change, desertification, forest conservation, ozone depletion, transboundary pollutant flows, and the management of marine and fresh-water resources. The editors welcome contributions that consider stakeholder initiatives and the role of civil society in the definition and resolution of environmental conflicts. The journal provides a forum on the role of political, economic, and legal considerations in the negotiation and implementation of effective governance strategies. Special emphasis is attached to the following substantive domains: The normative aspects and political economy of treaty negotiations and multilateral agreements, including equity considerations; Methodologies for evaluating the effectiveness of alternative governance mechanisms; The role of stakeholder initiatives and civil society in the definition and resolution of environmental conflicts; The harmonization of environmental strategies with prevailing social, political, and economic institutions.
