Nature Reviews Chemistry

Springer Nature•ISSN: 2397-3358•United Kingdom
50.3
Clarivate IF

Nature Reviews Chemistry is an online-only journal for the weekly publication of Reviews, Perspectives and Comments in all disciplines within chemistry. Our Reviews aim to be balanced and objective analyses of the selected topic – with descriptions of relevant scientific literature and discussions that are easy to grasp for recent graduates in any chemistry-related discipline, as well as informing principal investigators and industry-based research scientists of the latest advances. Reviews should provide the authors' insight into future directions and their opinion of the major challenges faced by researchers in the field. Perspectives – as the name suggests – take a look at a topic from a slightly different angle. They may offer more personal viewpoints, explain the historical background to a topic, or discuss some of the social, ethical or environmental factors related to chemistry research in academia and industry. Our Comments address topical issues in chemistry — the aim is to cover subjects that are of interest to chemists generally that are not necessarily focussed on the results or practice of chemistry research. This may include, but is not limited to, discussions of education in chemistry and the practicalities of research outside the academic environment. Reviews, Perspectives and Comments are commissioned by the editorial team.

Current Opinion in Green and Sustainable Chemistry

Elsevier•ISSN: 2452-2236•Netherlands
11
Clarivate IF

The Current Opinion journals were developed out of the recognition that it is increasingly difficult for specialists to keep up to date with the expanding volume of information published in their subject. In Current Opinion in Green and Sustainable Chemistry, we help the reader by providing in a systematic manner: 1.The views of experts on current advances in Green and Sustainable Chemistry in a clear and readable form. 2.Evaluations of the most interesting papers, annotated by experts, from the great wealth of original publications. Division of the subject into sections: The subject Green and Sustainable Chemistry includes all chemical aspects along the life cycle of chemicals as well chemical products and materials e.g. resources, synthesis, use and after life issues. It aims on better understanding where and how chemistry itself can be made more sustainable and whereby chemistry can contribute to sustainability in general. Therefore, the journal it is divided into themed sections, each of which is reviewed once a year. The amount of space devoted to each section is related to its importance: -Mineral and fossil resources and metals- Biomass, bio-fuels and bioenergies- CO2 capture, and chemistry- Green solvents- Green catalysis- New synthetic methods- Photocatalysis- Green processes and technologies- Renewable energy and storage- Sustainable recycling of molecules, materials and products- Benign by Design- New business models, ethics, legislation and economics. There is also a section that changes every year to reflect hot topics in the field.

ACS Sensors

American Chemical Society•ISSN: 2379-3694•United States
10.9
Clarivate IF

ACS Sensors is a peer-reviewed research journal that is devoted to the dissemination of new and original knowledge on all aspects of sensor science that selectively sense chemical or biological species or processes. Articles may address conceptual advances in sensing that are applicable to many types of analytes or application papers which report on the use of an existing sensing concept in a new way or for a new analyte. Application papers should demonstrate the use of the sensor in complex samples, show it is fit-for-purpose, and exhibit a correlation of the sensor’s performance with an existing analytical method. Papers may focus on sensor development for commercialization or developing sensors that are used to provide new scientific knowledge. Articles may be entirely theoretical with regard to sensing, or they may report experimental results.

Food Structure-Netherlands

Elsevier BV•ISSN: 2213-3291•Netherlands
7.1
Clarivate IF

Food Structure is the premier international forum devoted to the publication of high-quality original research on food structure. The focus of this journal is on food structure in the context of its relationship with molecular composition, processing and macroscopic properties (e.g., shelf stability, sensory properties, etc.). Manuscripts that only report qualitative findings and micrographs and that lack sound hypothesis-driven, quantitative structure-function research are not accepted. Significance of the research findings for the food science community and/or industry must also be highlighted.

Frontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology

Frontiers Media S.A.•ISSN: 2296-4185•Switzerland
5.8
Clarivate IF

The translation of new discoveries in medicine to clinical routine has never been easy. During the second half of the last century, thanks to the progress in chemistry, biochemistry and pharmacology, we have seen the development and the application of a large number of drugs and devices aimed at the treatment of symptoms, blocking unwanted pathways and, in the case of infectious diseases, fighting the micro-organisms responsible. However, we are facing, today, a dramatic change in the therapeutic approach to pathologies and diseases. Indeed, the challenge of the present and the next decade is to fully restore the physiological status of the diseased organism and to completely regenerate tissue and organs when they are so seriously affected that treatments cannot be limited to the repression of symptoms or to the repair of damage. This is being made possible thanks to the major developments made in basic cell and molecular biology, including stem cell science, growth factor delivery, gene isolation and transfection, the advances in bioengineering and nanotechnology, including development of new biomaterials, biofabrication technologies and use of bioreactors, and the big improvements in diagnostic tools and imaging of cells, tissues and organs. In today`s world, an enhancement of communication between multidisciplinary experts, together with the promotion of joint projects and close collaborations among scientists, engineers, industry people, regulatory agencies and physicians are absolute requirements for the success of any attempt to develop and clinically apply a new biological therapy or an innovative device involving the collective use of biomaterials, cells and/or bioactive molecules. “Frontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology” aspires to be a forum for all people involved in the process by bridging the gap too often existing between a discovery in the basic sciences and its clinical application.

Thermal Science and Engineering Progress

Elsevier•ISSN: 2451-9049•United Kingdom
5.6
Clarivate IF

Thermal Science and Engineering Progress (TSEP) publishes original, high-quality research articles that span activities ranging from fundamental scientific research and discussion of the more controversial thermodynamic theories, to developments in thermal engineering that are in many instances examples of the way scientists and engineers are addressing the challenges facing a growing population – smart cities and global warming – maximising thermodynamic efficiencies and minimising all heat losses. It is intended that these will be of current relevance and interest to industry, academia and other practitioners. It is evident that many specialised journals in thermal and, to some extent, in fluid disciplines tend to focus on topics that can be classified as fundamental in nature, or are ‘applied’ and near-market. Thermal Science and Engineering Progress will bridge the gap between these two areas, allowing authors to make an easy choice, should they or a journal editor feel that their papers are ‘out of scope’ when considering other journals. The range of topics covered by Thermal Science and Engineering Progress addresses the rapid rate of development being made in thermal transfer processes as they affect traditional fields, and important growth in the topical research areas of aerospace, thermal biological and medical systems, electronics and nano-technologies, renewable energy systems, food production (including agriculture), and the need to minimise man-made thermal impacts on climate change. Review articles on appropriate topics for TSEP are encouraged, although until TSEP is fully established, these will be limited in number. Before submitting such articles, please contact one of the Editors, or a member of the Editorial Advisory Board with an outline of your proposal and your expertise in the area of your review.
