Learning Media and Technology

Taylor & Francis•ISSN: 1743-9884 / 1743-9892•United Kingdom
4
Clarivate IF

Learning, Media and Technology aims to stimulate debate on digital media, digital technology and digital cultures in education. The journal seeks to include submissions that take a critical approach towards all aspects of education and learning, digital media and digital technology - primarily from the perspective of the social sciences, humanities and arts. The journal has a long heritage in the areas of media education, media and cultural studies, film and television, communications studies, design studies and general education studies. As such, Learning, Media and Technology is not a generic ‘Ed Tech’ journal. We are not looking to publish context-free studies of individual technologies in individual institutional settings, ‘how-to’ guides for the practical use of technologies in the classroom, or speculation on the future potential of technology in education. Instead we invite submissions which build on contemporary debates such as: -The ways in which digital media interact with learning environments, educational institutions and educational cultures -The changing nature of knowledge, learning and pedagogy in the digital age -Digital media production, consumption and creativity in educational contexts -How digital media are shaping (and being shaped by) educational practices in local, national and global contexts -The social, cultural, economic and political nature of educational media and technology -The ways in which digital media in education interact with issues of democracy and equity, social justice and public good. Learning, Media and Technology analyses such questions from a global, interdisciplinary perspective in contributions of the very highest quality from scholars and practitioners in the social sciences, communication and media studies, cultural studies, philosophy, history as well as in the information and computer sciences

Teaching in Higher Education

Taylor & Francis•ISSN: 1356-2517 / 1470-1294•United Kingdom
3.9
Clarivate IF

Teaching in Higher Education has become an internationally recognised field, which is more than ever open to multiple forms of contestation. However, the intellectual challenge which teaching presents has been inadequately acknowledged and theorised in higher education. Teaching in Higher Education addresses this gap by publishing scholarly work that critically examines and interrogates the values and presuppositions underpinning teaching, introduces theoretical perspectives and insights drawn from different disciplinary and methodological frameworks, and considers how teaching and research can be brought into a closer relationship. The journal welcomes contributions that aim to develop sustained reflection, investigation and critique, and that critically identify new agendas for research, for example by: examining the impact on teaching exerted by wider contextual factors such as policy, funding, institutional change and the expectations of society; developing conceptual analyses of pedagogical issues and debates, such as authority, power, assessment and the nature of understanding; exploring the various values which underlie teaching including those concerned with social justice and equity; offering critical accounts of lived experiences of higher education pedagogies which bring together theory and practice. Authors are strongly encouraged to engage with and build on previous contributions and issues raised in the journal. Please note that the journal does not publish: -descriptions and/or evaluations of policy and/or practice; -localised case studies that are not contextualized and theorised; -large-scale surveys that are not theoretically and critically analysed; -studies that simply replicate previous work without establishing originality.
