Frontiers in Marine Science publishes rigorously peer-reviewed research that advances our understanding of all aspects of the environment, biology, ecosystem functioning and human interactions with the oceans. Field Chief Editor Carlos M. Duarte at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology Thuwal is supported by an outstanding Editorial Board of international researchers. This multidisciplinary open-access journal is at the forefront of disseminating and communicating scientific knowledge and impactful discoveries to researchers, academics, policy makers and the public worldwide. With the human population predicted to reach 9 billion people by 2050, it is clear that traditional land resources will not suffice to meet the demand for food or energy, required to support high-quality livelihoods. As a result, the oceans are emerging as a source of untapped assets, with new innovative industries, such as aquaculture, marine biotechnology, marine energy and deep-sea mining growing rapidly under a new era characterized by rapid growth of a blue, ocean-based economy. The sustainability of the blue economy is closely dependent on our knowledge about how to mitigate the impacts of the multiple pressures on the ocean ecosystem associated with the increased scale and diversification of industry operations in the ocean and global human pressures on the environment. Therefore, Frontiers in Marine Science particularly welcomes the communication of research outcomes addressing ocean-based solutions for the emerging challenges, including improved forecasting and observational capacities, understanding biodiversity and ecosystem problems, locally and globally, effective management strategies to maintain ocean health, and an improved capacity to sustainably derive resources from the oceans.
Ecohydrology & Hydrobiology is an international journal that aims to advance ecohydrology as the study of the interplay between ecological and hydrological processes from molecular to river basin scales, and to promote its implementation as an integrative management tool to harmonize societal needs with biosphere potential.
Freshwater Science (FWS) publishes articles that advance understanding and environmental stewardship of all types of inland aquatic ecosystems (lakes, rivers, streams, reservoirs, subterranean, and estuaries) and ecosystems at the interface between aquatic and terrestrial habitats (wetlands, riparian areas, and floodplains). The journal regularly features papers on a wide range of topics, including physical, chemical, and biological properties of lentic and lotic habitats; ecosystem processes; structure and dynamics of populations, communities, and ecosystems; ecology, systematics, and genetics of freshwater organisms, from bacteria to vertebrates; linkages between freshwater and other ecosystems and between freshwater ecology and other aquatic sciences; bioassessment, conservation, and restoration; environmental management; and new or novel methods for basic or applied research.
Plankton and Benthos Research is a peer-reviewed journal publishing quarterly original papers, reviews and notes dealing with any aspect of the biology and ecology of planktonic and benthic organisms and their interactions with the environment in any aquatic system, and is open to all scientists around the world. Submission of a paper is held to imply that it represents an original contribution not previously published and that it is not being considered elsewhere.
GAYANA is a scientific journal published by Universidad de Concepción, Chile. It is the modern version of Gayana Oceanología and Gayana Zoología. Therefore its numeration starts at volume 63(1). GAYANA covers all aspects of zoology and oceanographic research. It is structured in five sections, defined by subject or discipline: Ecology, Biodiversity and Taxonomy, Earth Sciences, Evolutionary, and Applied Biology and Environmental Biology. Each section is in charge of an editor who receives and manages the manuscripts sent for evaluation in close collaboration with the editorial board.
Advances in Oceanography and Limnology was born in 2010 from the 35 years old Proceedings of the national congress of the Italian Association of Oceanology and Limnology. The AIOL Journal was funded as an interdisciplinary journal embracing both fundamental and applied Oceanographic and Limnological research, with focus on both single and multiple disciplines. Currently, two regular issues of the journal are published each year. In addition, Special Issues that focus on topics that are timely and of interest to a significant number of Limnologists and Oceanographers are also published. The journal, which is intended as an official publication of the AIOL, is also published in association with the EFFS (European Federation for Freshwater Sciences), which aims and objectives are directed towards the promotion of freshwater sciences throughout Europe. Starting from the 2015 issue, the AIOL Journal is published as an Open Access, peer-reviewed journal. Space is given to regular articles, review, short notes and opinion paper
Archives of Polish Fisheries is a leading international peer-reviewed journal publishing original research, clinical updates, and reviews indexed in Clarivate Web of Science (SCIE) with Q1 quartile ranking.
The main focus of Egyptian Journal of Aquatic Biology and Fisheries is to publish peer-reviewed, original papers relating to the biology and ecology of fresh, brackish and marine wetlands. Papers on applied research in both fisheries and aquaculture are so encouraging. Preference will be given to studies that address timely and current topics such as impact of climate change and green economy. The aim of Egyptian Journal of Aquatic Biology and Fisheries is to provide a wide scope for the aquatic biologist and limnologist to address and evaluate fisheries issues related to processes and functioning at different levels (individuals, communities and ecosystems).
