Clarivate IF

Biological engineering is an emerging discipline that encompasses engineering theory and practice connected to and derived from the science of biology, just as mechanical engineering and electrical engineering are rooted in physics and chemical engineering in chemistry. Topical areas include, but are not limited to: Synthetic biology and cellular design Biomolecular, cellular and tissue engineering Bioproduction and metabolic engineering Biosensors Ecological and environmental engineering Biological engineering education and the biodesign process As the official journal of the Institute of Biological Engineering, Journal of Biological Engineering provides a home for the continuum from biological information science, molecules and cells, product formation, wastes and remediation, and educational advances in curriculum content and pedagogy at the undergraduate and graduate-levels. Manuscripts should explore commonalities with other fields of application by providing some discussion of the broader context of the work and how it connects to other areas within the field.

6.3
Clarivate IF

The mission of MCP is to foster the development and applications of proteomics in both basic and translational research. MCP will publish manuscripts that report significant new biological or clinical discoveries underpinned by proteomic observations across all kingdoms of life. Manuscripts must define the biological roles played by the proteins investigated or their mechanisms of action. The journal also emphasizes articles that describe innovative new computational methods and technological advancements that will enable future discoveries. Manuscripts describing such approaches do not have to include a solution to a biological problem, but must demonstrate that the technology works as described, is reproducible and is appropriate to uncover yet unknown protein/proteome function or properties using relevant model systems or publicly available data. Scope: -Fundamental studies in biology, including integrative "omics" studies, that provide mechanistic insights -Novel experimental and computational technologies -Proteogenomic data integration and analysis that enable greater understanding of physiology and disease processes -Pathway and network analyses of signaling that focus on the roles of post-translational modifications -Studies of proteome dynamics and quality controls, and their roles in disease -Studies of evolutionary processes effecting proteome dynamics, quality and regulation -Chemical proteomics, including mechanisms of drug action -Proteomics of the immune system and antigen presentation/recognition -Microbiome proteomics, host-microbe and host-pathogen interactions, and their roles in health and disease -Clinical and translational studies of human diseases -Metabolomics to understand functional connections between genes, proteins and phenotypes

Acta Crystallographica Section D-Biological Crystallography

INT UNION CRYSTALLOGRAPHY•ISSN: 1399-0047•Denmark
4.3
Clarivate IF

Acta Crystallographica Section D welcomes the submission of articles covering any aspect of structural biology, with a particular emphasis on the structures of biological macromolecules or the methods used to determine them. Reports on new structures of biological importance may address the smallest macromolecules to the largest complex molecular machines. These structures may have been determined using any structural biology technique including crystallography, NMR, cryoEM and/or other techniques. The key criterion is that such articles must present significant new insights into biological, chemical or medical sciences. The inclusion of complementary data that support the conclusions drawn from the structural studies (such as binding studies, mass spectrometry, enzyme assays, or analysis of mutants or other modified forms of biological macromolecule) is encouraged. Methods articles may include new approaches to any aspect of biological structure determination or structure analysis but will only be accepted where they focus on new methods that are demonstrated to be of general applicability and importance to structural biology. Articles describing particularly difficult problems in structural biology are also welcomed, if the analysis would provide useful insights to others facing similar problems.

Clarivate IF

PLOS Computational Biology features works of exceptional significance that further our understanding of living systems at all scales—from molecules and cells, to patient populations and ecosystems—through the application of computational methods. Readers include life and computational scientists, who can take the important findings presented here to the next level of discovery. Research articles must be declared as belonging to a relevant section. More information about the sections can be found in the submission guidelines. Research articles should model aspects of biological systems, demonstrate both methodological and scientific novelty, and provide profound new biological insights. Generally, reliability and significance of biological discovery through computation should be validated and enriched by experimental studies. Inclusion of experimental validation is not required for publication, but should be referenced where possible. Inclusion of experimental validation of a modest biological discovery through computation does not render a manuscript suitable for PLOS Computational Biology. Research articles specifically designated as Methods papers should describe outstanding methods of exceptional importance that have been shown, or have the promise to provide new biological insights. The method must already be widely adopted, or have the promise of wide adoption by a broad community of users. Enhancements to existing published methods will only be considered if those enhancements bring exceptional new capabilities.
