Austral Ecology is the premier journal for basic and applied ecology in the Southern Hemisphere. As the official Journal of The Ecological Society of Australia (ESA), Austral Ecology addresses the commonality between ecosystems in Australia and many parts of southern Africa, South America, New Zealand and Oceania. For example many species in the unique biotas of these regions share common Gondwana ancestors. ESA's aim is to publish innovative research to encourage the sharing of information and experiences that enrich the understanding of the ecology of the Southern Hemisphere. Austral Ecology involves an editorial board with representatives from Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Brazil and Argentina. These representatives provide expert opinions, access to qualified reviewers and act as a focus for attracting a wide range of contributions from countries across the region. Austral Ecology publishes original papers describing experimental, observational or theoretical studies on terrestrial, marine or freshwater systems, which are considered without taxonomic bias. Special thematic issues are published regularly, including symposia on the ecology of estuaries and soft sediment habitats, freshwater systems and coral reef fish.
Community Ecology, established by the merger of two ecological periodicals, Coenoses and Abstracta Botanica was launched in an effort to create a common global forum for community ecologists dealing with plant, animal and/or microbial communities from terrestrial, marine or freshwater systems. Main subject areas: (i) community-based ecological theory; (ii) modelling of ecological communities; (iii) community-based ecophysiology; (iv) temporal dynamics, including succession; (v) trophic interactions, including food webs and competition; (vi) spatial pattern analysis, including scaling issues; (vii) community patterns of species richness and diversity; (viii) sampling ecological communities; (ix) data analysis methods.
The quarterly Ecological Chemistry and Engineering S is a multidisciplinary journal devoted to the publishing of original scientific papers, review articles, professional papers, case reports and varia (professional information, book reviews, etc.). It is pertinent to describe methods determining quality of air, water, soils and food. Many papers published are on monitoring and biomonitoring of an environment and on transfer of pollutants (eg heavy metals or radionuclides) from soil to plants. Some Authors consider impact of environment pollution on food and human health. Some papers describe models of pollutant spreading in air or within soil. Others are devoted to various technologies to prevent or minimize industrial pollution, as well as to remediation techniques. Papers on renewable energy sources are also very welcome.
Environmental Forensics provides a forum for scientific investigations that address environment contamination, its sources, and the historical reconstruction of its release into the environment. The context for investigations that form the published papers in the journal are often subjects to regulatory or legal proceedings, public scrutiny, and debate. In all contexts, rigorous scientific underpinnings guide the subject investigations. Specifically, the journal is an international, quarterly, peer-reviewed publication offering scientific studies that explore or are relevant to the source, age, fate, transport, as well as human health and ecological effects of environmental contamination. Journal subject matter encompasses all aspects of contamination mentioned above within the environmental media of air, water, soil, sediments and biota. Data evaluation and analysis approaches are highlighted as well including multivariate statistical methods. Journal focus is on scientific and technical information, data, and critical analysis in the following areas: -Contaminant Fingerprinting for source identification and/or age-dating, including (but not limited to) chemical, isotopic, chiral, mineralogical/microscopy techniques, DNA and tree-ring fingerprinting -Specific Evaluative Techniques for source identification and/or age-dating including (but not limited to) historical document and aerial photography review, signature chemicals, atmospheric tracers and markets forensics, background concentration evaluations. -Statistical Evaluation, Contaminant Modeling and Data Visualization -Vapor Intrusion including delineating the source and background values of indoor air contamination -Integrated Case Studies, employing environmental fate techniques -Legal Considerations, including strategic considerations for environmental fate in litigation and arbitration, and regulatory statutes and actions

One of the most important challenges facing the contemporary scientific world are problems connected with environmental protection. Intensive development of industry and agriculture has led to a rise in living standards on one hand, but an increase in environmental degradation on the other. This degradation poses a direct threat to human health and life. Solving these ever-increasing problems which seriously endanger our civilization require the united efforts of scientists and field researchers of many branches. The "Polish Journal of Environmental Studies" publishes original papers and critical reviews on the following subjects: -Basic and applied environmental pollution research, including environmental engineering -Pollution control of atmospheric, water (marine and fresh), soil and biological materials -Determination of harmful substances, including their metabolic breakdown patterns -Analytical methods for metabolic breakdown patterns or other chemical degradation patterns in the environment and in biological samples -Development of new analytical methods, instruments and techniques for controlling pollutants -Circulation of pollutants in the environment and their effect on living organisms -Environmentally oriented catalysis -Hazards to human health and safety -Waste utilization and management -Land reclamation -Conference reports, scientific and technical reports and book reviews
Population Ecology, formerly known as Researches on Population Ecology launched in Dec 1952, is the official journal of the Society of Population Ecology.
