European Journal of Physics is a journal of the European Physical Society and its primary mission is to assist in maintaining and improving the standard of taught physics in universities and other institutes of higher education. Authors submitting articles must indicate the usefulness of their material to physics education and make clear the level of readership (undergraduate or graduate) for which the article is intended. Submissions that omit this information or which, in the publisher's opinion, do not contribute to the above mission will not be considered for publication. To this end, we welcome articles that provide original insights and aim to enhance learning in one or more areas of physics. They should normally include at least one of the following: Explanations of how contemporary research can inform the understanding of physics at university level: for example, a survey of a research field at a level accessible to students, explaining how it illustrates some general principles. Original insights into the derivation of results. These should be of some general interest, consisting of more than corrections to textbooks. Descriptions of novel laboratory exercises illustrating new techniques of general interest. Those based on relatively inexpensive equipment are especially welcome. Articles of a scholarly or reflective nature that are aimed to be of interest to, and at a level appropriate for, physics students or recent graduates. Descriptions of successful and original student projects, experimental, theoretical or computational. Discussions of the history, philosophy and epistemology of physics, at a level accessible to physics students and teachers. Reports of new developments in physics curricula and the techniques for teaching physics. Physics Education Research reports: articles that provide original experimental and/or theoretical research contributions that directly relate to the teaching and learning of university-level physics.

Journal of Modern Optics

Taylor and Francis Ltd.•ISSN: 0950-0340 / 1362-3044•England

Clarivate IF

The journal (under its former title Optica Acta) was founded in 1953 - some years before the advent of the laser - as an international journal of optics. Since then optical research has changed greatly; fresh areas of inquiry have been explored, different techniques have been employed and the range of application has greatly increased. The journal has continued to reflect these advances as part of its steadily widening scope. Journal of Modern Optics aims to publish original and timely contributions to optical knowledge from educational institutions, government establishments and industrial R&D groups world-wide. The whole field of classical and quantum optics is covered. Papers may deal with the applications of fundamentals of modern optics, considering both experimental and theoretical aspects of contemporary research. In addition to regular papers, there are topical and tutorial reviews, and special issues on highlighted areas. All manuscript submissions are subject to initial appraisal by the Editor, and, if found suitable for further consideration, to peer review by independent, anonymous expert referees. General topics covered include: • Optical and photonic materials (inc. metamaterials) • Plasmonics and nanophotonics • Quantum optics (inc. quantum information) • Optical instrumentation and technology (inc. detectors, metrology, sensors, lasers) • Coherence, propagation, polarization and manipulation (classical optics) • Scattering and holography (diffractive optics) • Optical fibres and optical communications (inc. integrated optics, amplifiers) • Vision science and applications • Medical and biomedical optics • Nonlinear and ultrafast optics (inc. harmonic generation, multiphoton spectroscopy) • Imaging and Image processing

Papers in Physics

Papers in Physics•ISSN: 1852-4249•Argentina

Clarivate IF

Papers in Physics publishes original research in all areas of physics and its interface with other subjects. The scope includes, but is not limited to, physics of particles and fields, condensed matter, relativity and gravitation, nuclear physics, physics of fluids, biophysics, econophysics, chemical physics, statistical mechanics, soft condensed matter, materials science, mathematical physics and general physics. Contributions in the areas of foundations of physics, history of physics and physics education are not considered for publication. Articles published in Papers in Physics contain substantial new results and ideas that advance the state of physics in a non-trivial way. Articles are strictly reviewed by specialists prior to publication. Papers in Physics highlights outstanding articles published in the journal through the Editors' choice section. Papers in Physics offers two distinct editorial treatments to articles from which authors can choose. In Traditional Review, manuscripts are submitted to anonymous reviewers seeking constructive criticism and editors make a decision on whether publication is appropriate. In Open Review, manuscripts are sent to reviewers. If the paper is considered original and technically sound, the article, the reviewer's comments and the author's reply are published alongside the names of all involved. This way, Papers in Physics promotes the open discussion of controversies among specialists that are of help to the reader and to the transparency of the editorial process. Moreover, our reviewers receive their due recognition by publishing a recorded citable report. Papers in Physics publishes Commentaries from the reviewer(s) if major disagreements remain after exchange with the authors or if a different insight proposed is considered valuable for the readers.

Contemporary research into spoken language employs a wide range of approaches, from instrumental measures to perceptual and neurocognitive measures, to computational models, for investigating the properties and principles of speech in communicative settings across the world’s languages. 'Phonetica' is an international interdisciplinary forum for phonetic science that covers all aspects of the subject matter, from phonetic and phonological descriptions of segments and prosodies to speech physiology, articulation, acoustics, perception, acquisition, and phonetic variation and change. 'Phonetica' thus provides a platform for a comprehensive understanding of speaker-hearer interaction across languages and dialects, and of learning contexts throughout the lifespan. Papers published in this journal report expert original work that deals both with theoretical issues and with new empirical data, as well as with innovative methods and applications that will help to advance the field.

Quantum Studies-Mathematics and Foundations

Springer Nature•ISSN: 2196-5609 / 2196-5617•Updating
0.9
Clarivate IF

The primary goals of Quantum Studies: Mathematics and Foundations are to promote a deeper understanding of all fundamental aspects of quantum theory and to bridge between theoretical questions, foundational issues, mathematical methods, and the further evolution of quantum physics. Papers of high scientific quality in and between these domains are welcome. The emphasis is on mathematical methods and insights that lead to a better understanding of the paradoxical aspects of quantum physics and to its expansion into new domains. We encourage the creative use of such paradoxes and invite research articles and surveys. The target audience of this international journal are physicists, mathematicians and philosophers of science with an interest in the fundamental aspects of quantum theory.
