The Journal of Lipid Research (JLR) publishes original articles and reviews in the broadly defined area of biological lipids. We encourage the submission of manuscripts relating to lipids, including those addressing problems in biochemistry, molecular biology, structural biology, cell biology, genetics, molecular medicine, clinical medicine and metabolism. Major criteria for acceptance of articles are new insights into mechanisms of lipid function and metabolism and/or genes regulating lipid metabolism along with sound primary experimental data. Interpretation of the data is the authors’ responsibility, and speculation should be labeled as such. Manuscripts that provide new ways of purifying, identifying and quantifying lipids are invited for the Methods section of the Journal. JLR encourages contributions from investigators in all countries, but articles must be submitted in clear and concise English.

Plant Science will publish in the minimum of time, research manuscripts as well as commissioned reviews and commentaries recommended by its referees in all areas of experimental plant biology with emphasis in the broad areas of genomics, proteomics, biochemistry (including enzymology), physiology, cell biology, development, genetics, functional plant breeding, systems biology and the interaction of plants with the environment.
Manuscripts for full consideration should be written concisely and essentially as a final report. The main criterion for publication is that the manuscript must contain original and significant insights that lead to a better understanding of fundamental plant biology. Papers centering on plant cell culture should be of interest to a wide audience and methods employed result in a substantial improvement over existing established techniques and approaches. Methods papers are welcome only when the technique(s) described is novel or provides a major advancement of established protocols.
Structure aims to publish papers of exceptional interest in the field of structural biology. The journal strives to be essential reading for structural biologists, as well as biologists and biochemists that are interested in macromolecular structure and function. Structure strongly encourages the submission of manuscripts that present structural and molecular insights into biological function and mechanism. Other reports that address fundamental questions in structural biology, such as structure-based examinations of protein evolution, folding, and/or design, will also be considered. We will consider the application of any method, experimental or computational, at high or low resolution, to conduct structural investigations, as long as the method is appropriate for the biological, functional, and mechanistic question(s) being addressed. Likewise, reports describing single-molecule analysis of biological mechanisms are welcome.
In general, the editors encourage submission of experimental structural studies that are enriched by an analysis of structure-activity relationships and will not consider studies that solely report structural information unless the structure or analysis is of exceptional and broad interest. Studies reporting only homology models, de novo models, or molecular dynamics simulations are also discouraged unless the models are informed by or validated by novel experimental data; rationalization of a large body of existing experimental evidence and making testable predictions based on a model or simulation is often not considered sufficient.

Acta Crystallographica Section D welcomes the submission of articles covering any aspect of structural biology, with a particular emphasis on the structures of biological macromolecules or the methods used to determine them.
Reports on new structures of biological importance may address the smallest macromolecules to the largest complex molecular machines. These structures may have been determined using any structural biology technique including crystallography, NMR, cryoEM and/or other techniques. The key criterion is that such articles must present significant new insights into biological, chemical or medical sciences. The inclusion of complementary data that support the conclusions drawn from the structural studies (such as binding studies, mass spectrometry, enzyme assays, or analysis of mutants or other modified forms of biological macromolecule) is encouraged.
Methods articles may include new approaches to any aspect of biological structure determination or structure analysis but will only be accepted where they focus on new methods that are demonstrated to be of general applicability and importance to structural biology. Articles describing particularly difficult problems in structural biology are also welcomed, if the analysis would provide useful insights to others facing similar problems.
