Journal of Ethnology is a professional ethnologic reviewed journal. It is published four-times a year, always at the end of the corresponding quarter. The first special issue was presented to the reading public in 1990; the first periodic issue was published in 1991. Journal of Ethnology began as a free instalment of a professional journal that was published between 1964 and 1990 under the name Ethnographic News. After November 1989, the journal was modified: not only its name but also its content and format changed. With new graphic appearance and manifold content, the editors at that time aimed to disseminate the contemporary ethnological investigation more distinctly and so to extend the group of the reading public. Nevertheless, the journal made again a name for itself as a professional periodical focused on the ethnologic (and the resulting interdisciplinary) problems within social and historical contexts. The main intention of the editors is to reflect the discipline as flexibly as possible. The Journal of Ethnology presents the themes in the field of traditional culture and researches within the contemporary society; it reflects the live research terrain that brings new initiatives for the discipline. In the above connections, it pays attention also to folklorism and to the tasks investigated by the National Institute of Folk Culture that is the publisher of the journal. In addition to studies and material papers in Czech and Slovak languages (the studies by foreign authors, written in other languages, are translated into Czech), the journal publishes also the theme photographic enclosures documenting the ethnographic photography in the last century predominantly (the section Stopping with Photos).

Porn Studies

Taylor & Francis•ISSN: 2326-8743 / 2326-8751•United Kingdom
N/A
Clarivate IF

orn Studies is the first dedicated, international, peer-reviewed journal to critically explore those cultural products and services designated as pornographic and their cultural, economic, historical, institutional, legal and social contexts. Porn Studies will publish innovative work examining specifically sexual and explicit media forms, their connections to wider media landscapes and their links to the broader spheres of (sex) work across historical periods and national contexts. Porn Studies is an interdisciplinary journal informed by critical sexuality studies and work exploring the intersection of sexuality, gender, race, class, age and ability. It focuses on developing knowledge of pornographies past and present, in all their variations and around the world. Because pornography studies are still in their infancy we are also interested in discussions that focus on theoretical approaches, methodology and research ethics. Alongside articles, the journal includes a forum devoted to shorter observations, developments, debates or issues in porn studies, designed to encourage exchange and debate. Peer Review Policy: All research articles published in this journal have undergone rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening and anonymized refereeing by at least two anonymous referees.

PORTAL: Journal of Multidisciplinary International Studies

University of Technology, Sydney•ISSN: 1449-2490•Australia
N/A
Clarivate IF

PORTAL Journal of Multidisciplinary International Studies is a fully peer reviewed journal with two main issues per year, and is published by UTSePress. In some years there may be additional special focus issues. The journal is dedicated to publishing scholarship by practitioners of—and dissenters from—international, regional, area, migration, and ethnic studies. Portal also provides a space for cultural producers interested in the internationalization of cultures. Portal is conceived as a “multidisciplinary venture,” to use Michel Chaouli’s words. That is, Portal signifies “a place where researchers [and cultural producers] are exposed to different ways of posing questions and proffering answers, without creating out of their differing disciplinary languages a common theoretical or methodological pidgin” (2003, p. 57). Our hope is that scholars working in the humanities, social sciences, and potentially other disciplinary areas, will encounter in Portal scenarios about contemporary societies and cultures and their material and imaginative relation to processes of transnationalization, polyculturation, transmigration, globalization, and anti-globalization.
