Multiscale Modeling & Simulation

Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics Publications•ISSN: 1540-3459 / 1540-3467•United States
2.2
Clarivate IF

Centered around multiscale phenomena, Multiscale Modeling and Simulation (MMS) is an interdisciplinary journal focusing on the fundamental modeling and computational principles underlying various multiscale methods. By its nature, multiscale modeling is highly interdisciplinary, with developments occurring independently across fields. A broad range of scientific and engineering problems involve multiple scales. Traditional monoscale approaches have proven to be inadequate, even with the largest supercomputers, because of the range of scales and the prohibitively large number of variables involved. Thus, there is a growing need to develop systematic modeling and simulation approaches for multiscale problems. MMS will provide a single broad, authoritative source for results in this area.

SIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis

Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics Publications•ISSN: 0036-1410 / 1095-7154•United States
2.2
Clarivate IF

SIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis (SIMA) features research articles of the highest quality employing innovative analytical techniques to treat problems in the natural sciences. Every paper has content that is primarily analytical and that employs mathematical methods in such areas as partial differential equations, the calculus of variations, functional analysis, approximation theory, harmonic or wavelet analysis, or dynamical systems. Additionally, every paper relates to a model for natural phenomena in such areas as fluid mechanics, materials science, quantum mechanics, biology, mathematical physics, or to the computational analysis of such phenomena. Submission of a manuscript to a SIAM journal is representation by the author that the manuscript has not been published or submitted simultaneously for publication elsewhere. Typical papers for SIMA do not exceed 35 journal pages. Substantial deviations from this page limit require that the referees, editor, and editor-in-chief be convinced that the increased length is both required by the subject matter and justified by the quality of the paper.

Stochastics and Partial Differential Equations-Analysis and Computations

Springer US•ISSN: 2194-0401 / 2194-041X•United States
2.2
Clarivate IF

Stochastics and Partial Differential Equations: Analysis and Computations publishes the highest quality articles presenting significantly new and important developments in the SPDE theory and applications. SPDE is an active interdisciplinary area at the crossroads of stochastic anaylsis, partial differential equations and scientific computing. Statistical physics, fluid dynamics, financial modeling, nonlinear filtering, super-processes, continuum physics and, recently, uncertainty quantification are important contributors to and major users of the theory and practice of SPDEs. The journal is promoting synergetic activities between the SPDE theory, applications, and related large scale computations. The journal also welcomes high quality articles in fields strongly connected to SPDE such as stochastic differential equations in infinite-dimensional state spaces or probabilistic approaches to solving deterministic PDEs.

Clarivate IF

Calculus of variations and partial differential equations are classical, very active, closely related areas of mathematics, with important ramifications in differential geometry and mathematical physics. In the last four decades this subject has enjoyed a flourishing development worldwide, which is still continuing and extending to broader perspectives. This journal will attract and collect many of the important top-quality contributions to this field of research, and stress the interactions between analysts, geometers, and physicists. The field of Calculus of Variations and Partial Differential Equations is extensive; nonetheless, the journal will be open to all interesting new developments. Topics to be covered include: - Minimization problems for variational integrals, existence and regularity theory for minimizers and critical points, geometric measure theory - Variational methods for partial differential equations, optimal mass transportation, linear and nonlinear eigenvalue problems - Variational problems in differential and complex geometry - Variational methods in global analysis and topology - Dynamical systems, symplectic geometry, periodic solutions of Hamiltonian systems - Variational methods in mathematical physics, nonlinear elasticity, asymptotic variational problems, homogenization, capillarity phenomena, free boundary problems and phase transitions - Monge-Ampère equations and other fully nonlinear partial differential equations related to problems in differential geometry, complex geometry, and physics.

Inverse Problems

IOP Publishing Ltd.•ISSN: 0266-5611•England
2.1
Clarivate IF

An interdisciplinary journal combining mathematical and experimental papers on inverse problems with theoretical, numerical and practical approaches to their solution. As well as applied mathematicians, physical scientists and engineers, the readership includes those working in geophysics, radar, optics, biology, acoustics, communication theory, signal processing and imaging, among others. The emphasis is on publishing original contributions to methods of solving mathematical, physical and applied problems. To be publishable in this journal, papers must meet the highest standards of scientific quality, contain significant and original new science and should present substantial advancement in the field. Due to the broad scope of the journal, we require that authors provide sufficient introductory material to appeal to the wide readership and that articles which are not explicitly applied include a discussion of possible applications.

Clarivate IF

The Applied Mathematics and Optimization Journal covers a broad range of mathematical methods in particular those that bridge with optimization and have some connection with applications. Core topics include calculus of variations, partial differential equations, stochastic control, optimization of deterministic or stochastic systems in discrete or continuous time, homogenization, control theory, mean field games, dynamic games and optimal transport. Algorithmic, data analytic, machine learning and numerical methods which support the modeling and analysis of optimization problems are encouraged. Of great interest are papers which show some novel idea in either the theory or model which include some connection with potential applications in science and engineering.

Mathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences

John Wiley and Sons Ltd•ISSN: 0170-4214 / 1099-1476•England
2
Clarivate IF

Mathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences publishes papers dealing with new mathematical methods for the consideration of linear and non-linear, direct and inverse problems for physical relevant processes over time- and space- varying media under certain initial, boundary, transition conditions etc. Papers dealing with biomathematical content, population dynamics and network problems are most welcome. Mathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences is an interdisciplinary journal: therefore, all manuscripts must be written to be accessible to a broad scientific but mathematically advanced audience. All papers must contain carefully written introduction and conclusion sections, which should include a clear exposition of the underlying scientific problem, a summary of the mathematical results and the tools used in deriving the results. Furthermore, the scientific importance of the manuscript and its conclusions should be made clear. Papers dealing with numerical processes or which contain only the application of well established methods will not be accepted. Because of the broad scope of the journal, authors should minimize the use of technical jargon from their subfield in order to increase the accessibility of their paper and appeal to a wider readership. If technical terms are necessary, authors should define them clearly so that the main ideas are understandable also to readers not working in the same subfield.

All articles submitted to this journal are peer-reviewed. The AMS has a single blind peer-review process in which the reviewers know who the authors of the manuscript are, but the authors do not have access to the information on who the peer reviewers are. This journal is devoted to research articles of the highest quality in computational mathematics. Areas covered include numerical analysis, computational discrete mathematics, including number theory, algebra and combinatorics, and related fields such as stochastic numerical methods. Articles must be of significant computational interest and contain original and substantial mathematical analysis or development of computational methodology.
